E-house
Also known as: Electrical House, Power House
A prefabricated, factory-assembled building that houses a BESS site's electrical and control equipment as a single transportable unit. A typical E-house integrates the medium-voltage switchgear, plant controls (PPC), SCADA, auxiliary power transformer, and building services such as HVAC, fire detection, and lighting inside a weatherproof enclosure built and tested off-site before shipping to the project.
In energy storage
On BESS projects, an E-house replaces a conventionally site-built electrical room, cutting on-site work down to setting the unit, terminating cables, and commissioning. The structure is always prefabricated, but how much equipment is pre-installed varies by scope — items such as the PPC and SCADA are sometimes shipped loose and fitted on site.
