PPC (Plant Power Controller)
Also known as: BPC, Battery Plant Controller, EMS
The control system that manages grid compliance at the plant level. Handles grid code requirements including fault ride-through, reactive power control, frequency response, and interface with the TSO or DSO. May be integrated with the BPC or provided as a standalone system.
In energy storage
The PPC sits between the TSO/DSO interface and the individual PCS units, translating grid operator setpoints into per-inverter commands while ensuring the plant stays within its contracted P-Q capability envelope. During commissioning, PPC tuning and grid code compliance testing — including fault ride-through, reactive power step response, and frequency droop settings — are among the most time-intensive activities.
