Dynamic Containment (DC)
Also known as: DC Low, DC High
A GB-specific fast frequency response product introduced by National Grid ESO, requiring full power delivery within one second of a frequency event.
In energy storage
DC is procured through day-ahead auctions in half-hour blocks, and the asset must maintain sufficient SoC to deliver full power for at least 15 minutes in either direction. Operational metering is reported every second to the ESO control room, and performance is assessed at 20 Hz resolution — non-delivery triggers penalty deductions.
