ISO 3744
An international acoustics standard that defines the engineering method for measuring sound power levels of noise sources — used in BESS to determine declared noise emissions from equipment such as PCS units, cooling systems, and transformers.
In energy storage
ISO 3744 test results are referenced in equipment datasheets and tender specifications to verify that BESS noise emissions meet local planning consent limits — typically 35–45 dB(A) at the nearest noise-sensitive receptor. PCS units and HVAC systems are usually the dominant noise sources, and the acoustic data from ISO 3744 feeds into the site noise impact assessment during the planning application.
