In the BESS sector, IPPs typically acquire ready-to-build or operational projects from developers, then own and operate the assets for the duration of the investment period. The IPP contracts an RTM provider for revenue optimisation and an O&M provider for asset management, retaining the merchant or contracted revenue exposure on its own balance sheet.
