An independent engineer (IE) typically performs technical due diligence on behalf of lenders, reviewing equipment selection, system design, degradation assumptions, fire safety, and the OEM warranty structure. Commercial due diligence focuses on the revenue model — validating market price forecasts, contracted ancillary service terms, and the dispatch strategy against the battery's operating envelope.
